Vacuum into a Room
Whenever possible, always vacuum into a room. I’ve tried going to the far end of a room and working back to the door but only ended up fighting the cord. Plug the vacuum in and start from that spot, vacuuming away from the plug.
And empty the canister before it’s full, it makes a difference. Vacuuming with an almost full canister only makes the machine work harder and pick up less stuff. It only takes a few moments to empty it so do it more often.
And since we’re on the subject of vacuuming, dust first, change the bed linens, make the bed first, and move any furniture you will vacuum under. If you have pets, vacuum that space between the toilet seat and the tank before you clean, vacuum out the toaster oven, the basket and shelf where the onions are kept, and the underside of the overhanging piece of wood at the bottom of cabinets – where the spiders build cobwebs.
I’m not fond of vacuuming but doing it this way makes life easier.
